STEAMBOAT MOUNTAIN MUSIC BURSARY RENAMED IN HONOUR OF CAROL WILKIE
At the Steamboat Music Society AGM on March 7th, 2022, members passed a motion to change the name of the Steamboat Mountain Music Society Bursary to the Carol Wilkie Steamboat Mountain Music Bursary, in memory of Edgewater’s beloved music teacher who passed away last August.
Carol was a true local treasure who helped nurture the love of music in dozens of aspiring musicians. After her death, Carol’s family requested that memorial donations be sent to Steamboat Society Bursary Fund. The Society is grateful for the trust the Wilkie Family has shown in our program. This new name will
honour Carol’s legacy and the importance of music education.
The Steamboat Bursary was established in 2012 and since then it has assisted many aspiring musicians. In years to come, they will be announced under the Bursary’s new name.

This program is funded by our Annual Vermillion Flume Duck Race Gaming Event, 50/50 Draws, and Individual Designated Donations from Steamboat Society members. Since it began in 2012, this bursary has supported 27 projects, benefitting dozens of aspiring musicians.
